The sneaky rabbit Story Time

Story 1

One night, when the moon was very bright, Rabbit was
resting near a pond. He was very tired and wanted to go to
sleep, but he was scared the tiger was going to eat him up.
Rabbit tried and tried to stay awake. He looked up at the
sky and started to count the stars. Soon Rabbit was fast
asleep.
Suddenly, a loud, booming voice woke him up. It was Tiger! ‘Aha! Now I’ve got you, little
Rabbit! You’ll be perfect in my soup!’
Rabbit was very frightened, but he had an idea. He looked in the water and saw the
reflection of the moon. It looked like a big lump of cheese. He moved his mouth,
pretending to eat, and said, ‘Mmm yum yum yum yum. Ah, Tiger. I’m happy to see you.
Yum yum yum. Come and share this delicious white cheese with me. Yum yum yum. I’m
keeping it fresh for you in the pond.’
Tiger loved white cheese. He licked his lips. ‘Mmm yum. I can see the cheese, but how
do you get it out of the pond?’ he asked.
‘Easy,’ said Rabbit. ‘I tie this stone around my foot and jump in. Do you want to try?’
Tiger tied the stone around his foot and jumped into the pond. Splash! Rabbit ran
away, saying, ‘Ha ha! Now you’re the one in the soup!’
And I’ve heard that Tiger is still trying to get out of the pond.

Story 2

What will I be when I grow up?

When I grow up I’ll work with animals. I don’t know
which job yet.
Maybe like my brother. He’s a special vet.
He looks after scary snakes, some just out of eggs.
He says that snakes are easy as they don’t have any
legs.
My father is a scientist. He works to save rare birds.
Some are really clever and can even say some words.
“How do you do.”
My mother is a dog groomer. She loves dogs big or
small.
Once she styled a poodle. It looked just like a ball.
My sister, she trains dolphins. They practise in the
pool.
She hears the dolphins talk and sing. That sounds
really cool!
So many animal jobs to choose but which one’s right
for me?
Because I’m only ten years old, I’ll have to wait and
see!

Story 3

The Magic Paintbrush

Rose loved drawing. She was very poor and didn’t have pens
or pencils. She drew pictures in the sand with sticks. One
day, an old woman saw Rose and said, ‘Hello! Here’s a
paintbrush and some paper for you.’
‘Thank you!’ smiled Rose. She was so happy. ‘Hmmm, what
can I paint?’ she thought. She looked around and saw a duck on the pond. ‘I know! I’ll paint a duck!’
So she did. Suddenly, the duck flew off the paper and onto the pond. ‘Wow!’ she said. ‘Amagic paintbrush!’
Rose was a very kind girl and she painted pictures for everyone in her village. She
painted a cow for the farmer, pencils for the teacher and toys for all the children.
The king heard about the magic paintbrush and sent a soldier to find Rose. ‘Come with
me,’ said the soldier. ‘The king wants you to paint some money for him.’
‘But he’s already rich,’ said Rose. ‘I only paint to help poor people.’
But the nasty soldier took Rose to the king. ‘Paint me a tree with lots of money on it,’
he shouted.
Rose was brave and said, ‘No!’ So the king sent her to prison. But Rose painted a key
for the door and a horse to help her escape. The king chased after her. So she painted
a big hole, and splat! The king fell in.
Today, Rose only uses her magic paintbrush to help people who really, really need
help

• Գրքի հեղինակը Լայամ Ֆրենկ Բաում
• Լայման Ֆրենք Բաումը ծնվել է 1856 թ. Նյու Յորքում, անգլիական արմատներ ունեցող ընտանիքում։ Հայրը՝ Բենջամին Բաումը կայացած հարուստ նավթային գործիչ էր, ։ Ֆրենքը մեծացել է հայրական կալվածքում՝Ռոզա Լոունում, որի մասին սիրով է հիշում հետագա տարիներին։ Մինչև 12 տարեկանը կրթություն ստացել է տանը՝ մասնավոր ուսուցիչների միջոցով, իսկ 12 տարեկանում ուղարկվում է Նյու Յորքի  ռազմական ակադեմիա։ Բայց քանի որ նա երազկոտ ու զգայուն երեխա էր, կարգապահական խստության պատճառով ընդամենը երկու տարի այնտեղ մնալուց հետո հետ է ուղարկվում տուն։
• 1897 թվականից միտք է հղանում ստեղծել պատմություններ երեխաների համար, ։ 1900 թվականին լույս է տեսնում հանրահայտ«Օզի կախարդը»։ «Օզի կախարդը» գրքից հետո գրել է ընդհանուր հաշվով 55 վեպ, գումարած 4 «կորած» վեպեր, 83 պատմվածքներ, ավելի քան 200 բանաստեղծություններ։ Լայման Ֆրենք Բաումի «Օզի կախարդը» թարգմանվել է նաև հայերեն։
• Ո՞վ էր գրքի հերոսը, ինչպիսի՞ն էր նա:
• Գրքի հերոսը Դորոթին էր, նա շատ բարի, ընկերասեր, նպատակասլաց աղջիկ էր։
• Գրքից դուրս գրիր մեկ էջի սահմանում քեզ դուր եկած հատվածը, հիմնավորիր, թե ինչու ես ընտրել հենց այդ հատվածը:
• ԴՈՐՈԹԻԻ ՑԱՆԿՈւԹՅՈւՆՆ ԻՐԱԿԱՆԱՆՈւՄ Է Խրտվիլակի, Փայտահատի ու Առյուծի ցանկությունները կատարվել էին: Բայց Դորոթին դեռ շփոթված էր: – Իսկ ես ինչպե՞ս եմ Կանզաս հասնելու, – հարցրեց նա: – Արծաթե մաշիկներդ քեզ տուն կհասցնեն, – պատասխանեց Գլինդան, – եթե սկզբում իմանայիր, թե դրանք ինչ զորություն ունեն, այստեղ հայտնվելուդ հենց առաջին օրը տուն կվերադառնայիր: – Բայց այդ ժամանակ ինձ ո՞վ խելք կտար, – վրդովվեց Խրտվիլակը: – Ես էլ սիրտ չէի ունենա, – ասաց Փայտահատը: – Իսկ ես այդպես վախկոտ էլ կմնայի, – ասաց Առյուծը: – Իրավացի եք, – ասաց Դորոթին, – բայց հիմա, երբ ստացել եք սրտներիդ ուզածր, ժամանակն է, որ տուն վերադառնամ: – Արծաթե մաշիկները կախարդական են, – ասաց Գլինդան, – նրանք կարող են երեք քայլից քեզ ուզածդ տեղը հասցնել: Պետք է ընդամենը երեք անգամ կրունկներդ իրար խփես և ասես՝ ուր ես ուզում գնալ: Մեկնելուց առաջ Դորոթին ամուր գրկեց ու համբուրեց բոլորին: Ընկերները շատ տխրեցին, որ ստիպված են բաժանվել, բայց նաև ուրախ էին, որ իրենց երազանքներն իրականացել են: Գլինդան գահից իջավ և համբուրեց Դորոթիին: Աղջիկը գրկեց շանն ու ևս մեկ անգամ մնաս բարով ասելով՝ կրունկները երեք անգամ շեշտակի իրար խփեց:
